A Healthy Mouth Is a Happy Mouth!

Pet Dental Care in Cooper City

When was the last time you checked your pet’s teeth? If it’s been a while, now is a good time to “flip the lip.” Of course, your pet can’t brush their own teeth, so it’s up to you as the owner to maintain their oral health for them. At-home dental care, combined with professional dental care, is a great way to keep your pet’s mouth healthy. At Sheridan West Animal Clinic, we take a proactive approach to dental care because preventing dental disease is far less expensive than treating it. Our trained staff located here in Cooper City are skilled at both treating and preventing oral problems to keep your pet’s teeth pearly white and free of periodontal disease.

Dental Services for Pets in Cooper City & Surrounding Communities

We take pride in our advanced dental services for dogs and cats, which include:

  • Anesthetic dentals
  • Ultrasonic scaling and polishing
  • Digital dental X-rays
  • Advanced monitoring
  • Extractions when needed

To ensure the safety of our anesthetized patients, we recommend pre-anesthetic blood work. This allows us to determine if there are any underlying health issues that need to be treated first. We monitor the vital signs of all patients before, during, and after their dental procedures.

Anesthesia-Free Pet Dentistry

We offer anesthesia-free dentistry for dental cleanings for some of our patients when appropriate under the supervision of our licensed veterinarians.  Anesthesia-free dentistry is a great alternative for pets that aren’t candidates for general anesthesia. It is not recommended for pets with severe gingivitis, stomatitis, or other advanced dental diseases.

Our non-anesthetic dental team is able to assess the temperament of a pet to determine if the anesthesia-free cleaning will be successful or not. In some cases, the pet can be calmed down, but in other cases, an alternative treatment approach may be recommended. We do not, under any circumstances, force a pet to have anesthesia-free dentistry if they are resistant to it.
